Walking in Truth — More Than Just Knowing

I continued reading the Gospel of John, and at one point, I had to pause and look up what “Pharisees” were.

At first, I always thought the Pharisees were simply the “bad guys” in the Bible.

But the truth is…
they weren’t outsiders.

They were the ones who knew Scripture better than most of us ever will.
They followed the rules.
They looked right on the outside.

And still… they missed Jesus.

They had knowledge
but not transformation.

That realization stayed with me.

Because it revealed something deeper—
you can know about God and still not truly walk with Him.

And somehow, I found myself coming back to the same verse again:

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32

Not just knowing it…
but living it.

What It Means to Walk in Truth

Walking in truth, the way Jesus meant it, goes beyond knowledge.

It’s not just about reading Scripture—
it’s about living it.

It’s not just outward behavior—
it’s inner alignment.

It’s allowing God to shape every part of you:

  • your thoughts
  • your heart
  • your actions

Truth becomes something you walk in, not just something you quote.

The Deep Connection

What I’m starting to understand is this:

You can know about God and still not be free.
But when you truly receive and live His truth—that’s where freedom begins.

That’s where the Pharisees struggled.
They believed they already had the truth…

…but they resisted the One who is the Truth.

Bringing It Back to Me

I once wrote this:

“Don’t follow your heart. Don’t rely only on your mind. Let God lead both.”

Now I see it more clearly.

That mindset is the opposite of what led the Pharisees astray.

Walking in truth looks like:

  • a calm mind (not ruled by emotion or ego)
  • a surrendered heart (open to God’s correction)
  • a life that says:
“God, align me—not just inform me.”

Simple Takeaway

Pharisees = Truth in their head
Walking in truth = Truth in your life

I don’t want to be someone who knows everything…
but misses Him standing right in front of me.
